Southend High School for Boys, Southend, Essex

Comar Architectural Aluminium Systems, with their approved fabricator Anglia Fixing Ltd completed a new build 6th Form extension for Southend Boys School in Essex. The new 6th Form block will feature a library, 6th form study and research areas, ICT suites, classrooms, and office space. This popular school is currently oversub-scribed and the demand exceptionally high. This expansion project was regarded as a priority given the sixth form accommodation was undersized.

A variety of Comar systems were specified for this new expansion project and included Comar 9P.i Ladder framing which incorporated Comar 5P.i Top Hung casement vents which were hung on stainless steel friction hinges.

Comar 6EFT 4-sided pressure plated and capped curtain walling was installed and Comar 7P.i Commercial Thermally Broken Pivot Doors were hung directly from the Comar 6EFT frame. Other Doors installed on the build included Comar 7 automatic non thermal bi -parting doors. In any busy school environment Comar 7P.i Door Systems are a natural choice.

Solar shading was also a key consideration in the build and Duco Sun Louvres were installed. All the aluminium was powder coated to a Grey RAL 7016 Matt.

All Comar approved fabricators are required to have the technical expertise to attend pre-site meetings and provide detailing. Anglia Fixing Ltd liaised closely with the specifiers to provide design advice and detailing which ensured the project ran smoothly and met site deadlines.
