Crittall Windows is a long established company and household name, and has been producing steel windows since the late 19th century. The Homelight Range evolved in the 1920's, with the same sizes and styles still being made today, but with much improved performance features such as galvanising, weatherstripping, inclusion of double glazed units for added thermal performance and polyester powder coating finishes. Steel windows cannot be replicated by aluminium, timber or plastic due to the fact that steel is a very strong material and hence the frame of the window can be a lot more slender than the alternatives, thus maximising daylight by incorporating greater areas of glazing. Security of the frame is most important when deterring break-ins and this again is down to the fact that steel is three times stronger than aluminium. The Homelight range delivers secure windows and doors with options such as locking handles and bolts as added security. The Homelight Range is suitable for both refurbishment and new build, and is manufactured in standard metric sizes which replicate the imperial measurements of the original Crittall Windows. The range is wide and varied, but comprises of basic styles: | Large pane types can be single or double glazed | | Small pane types - "Georgian" design - single glazed only ** | | Horizontal pane types can be single or double glazed* | | Reversible windows provide safe cleaning in multi storey buildings |
* Sight line of double glaze 'T' bar not always acceptable. Consult us. ** Double glazed units available using simulated 19mm glazing bars fixed to the surface of outer pane. Dimensions & Reference Homelight windows feature two basic modular pane widths. 'H' Small Pane and 'N' casements are based on a traditional 462mm (18¼ inch) glass width in a fixed pane. 'Z' range casements are based on a 582 mm (23 inch) glass width, where a wider proportion is preferred. All Homelight doors are manufactured using the Corporate W20 section. When sidelights are utilised with double glazed doors, Crittall advise the use of Crittall Corporate W20 manufactured sidelights in order that glazing bars match.
